Join Northshire Bookstore on Friday, March 17 at 2 pm for a recital of dancers from Mise Eire Irish Dancers, a new dance school in Saratoga Springs.
Mise Eire Irish Dancers, in the heart of Saratoga Springs, believe in a healthy, fun approach to Irish dance. During classes, we learn dance skills, techniques, and steps, which are woven together with the concepts of self-awareness, positive self-esteem, and the value and importance of team work. In an increasingly multicultural world it is essential for our children to develop an understanding of cultural art forms. It is our hope that by teaching them to love Irish dance, we are helping to foster a greater appreciation for other cultures as well.

SaratogaArtsFest kicks off its Arts Fest Friday series with Gotta Dance! Friday, March 31, 6-8 pm at The National Museum of Dance. Designed for audiences of all ages and previous exposure to the arts, Gotta Dance! brings the area’s leading dance organizations together under one roof to perform short works showcasing tap, ballet, swing, salsa, contemporary, and multicultural dance traditions. This free event features dance performances by The School of the Arts, Skidmore Dance Ensemble (including Jason Ohlberg), Nacre, Tina Baird Tap, SPA City Swingers, Tango Fusion, Aakriti Classical Indian Dance, Saratoga City Ballet, Irish Step Dancers, and Elaina; music by The Joey Thomas Little Big Band; and fashion show. A Shirley Temple Station offers crafts, light refreshments, and movies for kids.
“Gotta Dance! features incredible dance performances in one of Saratoga’s most breathtaking museum spaces,’ says Arts Fest Friday Production Director Nicole Coady. “People will be able to enjoy an amazing variety of dance styles while touring the Museum’s beautiful and engaging exhibits.” For those who want to try out their own dance moves, The Joey Thomas Little Big Band will be performing the greatest hits of the Big Band and Swing eras in the Museum’s Main Hall. Drinks and light bites will be available for purchase. Beginning at 8:15, guests can stay for an afterhours screening of a classic dance film. (Arts Fest Fridays followers will get to vote on the film in early March by responding to a survey on the SaratogaArtsFest Facebook page.)
Arts Fest Fridays are collaborative community arts experiences held at varied months during the year in arts spaces and venues throughout Saratoga Springs. Each Arts Fest Friday has its own production team that brings together arts groups, business organizations, and community members to create a theme and unique mix of the visual and performing arts. The result is a fun, welcoming way for people to experience the arts, find new interests, and get to know more about the region’s many artists, performers, and arts organizations.
